Product Overview

Recessed LED downlight product photo

The HUIHENG Lighting COB LED recessed downlight series is built for general indoor illumination — the light that fills a room evenly rather than picking out one object. Each unit pairs a COB light source with a reflector that spreads the output across the target area, and the body sits inside the ceiling so only a slim white trim ring shows from below.

We supply it as a fixed, non-aiming fitting. That is the point of it: a whole floor plate gets the same clean sightline, whether the ceiling runs over a living area, a hotel corridor, an office or a showroom. Where a scheme needs light aimed at a display or a wall, a different fitting does that job — this series is the general-lighting layer.

For importers and contractors the appeal is range inside one family. Four power steps and three colour temperatures sit under the same trim, so a schedule with several room sizes and several moods can be filled from a single series rather than four, and a repeat order for the same site stays a straight match.

As one of the LED recessed lighting manufacturers supplying Europe and the Middle East, Huiheng Lighting builds this series in its own factory in Zhongshan, with tooling, casting, SMT and assembly handled in-house. The same production also turns out adjustable and surface-mounted families, so a wholesale adjustable modern LED downlight line and this fixed series can be quoted together when a project needs both.

Key Features and Benefits

  • One family for a whole floor plate: the four versions share the same white trim and sand-black body, so a project that mixes small rooms with large open areas keeps one visual language instead of two.
  • Ambience matched room by room: warm, neutral and cool options come from the same housing, so a hotel floor can run a softer tone in guest rooms and a crisper one in the corridor without introducing a second product line.
  • General light, not accent light: this is the fitting for the even layer of ceiling downlights that makes a space usable — open offices, shop floors, reception areas — leaving display and wall positions to adjustable or narrow-beam fittings.
  • Numbers you can draw with: cut-out diameter, overall diameter and body height are published for every size, so the ceiling opening and the trim line can be resolved in the drawing long before the order is placed.
  • Consistent light across the range: all four versions use the same COB source and the same reflector, so stepping up in wattage changes how much light you get, not how it looks.

Power Options

Four versions carry the series: 10W, 18W, 28W and 40W. Each step exists because the ceiling it lights is different, not because the range needed more numbers.

10W is the smallest and the natural choice for tight spaces and short runs — a bathroom, a hallway, a corridor outside a guest room, a compact office. 18W covers the mid-size case: bedrooms, standard meeting rooms, reception areas and checkout counters where one fitting has to hold a modest room. 28W steps up to open areas and higher ceilings, where mounting height and spacing both grow. 40W is the version for large rooms and tall ceilings — double-height lobbies, big showroom floors, warehouse-style open floors — where the light has to travel further down into the space.

Luminous efficacy is published at 120 lm/W across the range, so output scales predictably with wattage and a lighting calculation can move between steps without changing product family.

Most projects do not buy a single power. A hotel floor might run the smallest version in bathrooms, the mid step in guest rooms and the next one up along the corridor; a commercial fit-out might use two steps in the same open ceiling, with the higher output over the main floor. For a distributor stocking ceiling downlights across several outputs, that turns four unrelated lines into one coherent family with one trim colour, one finish and one spares box.

Because every version uses the same COB source and reflector, stepping up changes how much light the ceiling receives, not the character of it — which is what keeps a mixed schedule looking like a single specification.

Colour Temperature Options

  • 3000K warm white: a softer, warmer tone that suits guest rooms, hotel corridors, restaurants and residential living areas.
  • 4000K neutral white: the everyday working tone — offices, meeting rooms, reception areas and shop floors where the light should stay neutral against merchandise and finishes.
  • 5000K cool white: a crisper, brighter appearance for showrooms, display areas and commercial interiors that are meant to read bright and clean.
  • CRI ≥80: colour rendering is rated at CRI ≥80, so fabrics, finishes and merchandise read close to how they look in daylight — the rating that matters most where the ceiling light is also the light the customer sees the product in.
  • Consistency across a project: fixing one temperature per zone keeps a corridor, a room and a lobby reading as one scheme, and makes a later replacement unit disappear into the run.
  • Confirm the configuration at order stage: the catalogue lists 3000K, 4000K and 5000K. Confirm whether the colour temperature you need is selectable on the ordered unit or supplied as a specific fixed configuration.

Beam Angle and Light Distribution

A 75° beam angle is a wide one, and that is deliberate. On this LED recessed downlight the light leaves the fitting in a broad cone that reaches the floor and the surrounding walls, which is what general ceiling lighting needs. A narrow beam of 15° to 24° is for aiming at a wall or a display; 75° is for filling the room.

The shape of that cone comes from the reflector inside the head. The fitting carries a deep, finely ridged inner reflector set back from the trim, with the COB source at its centre. Setting the source back and breaking the reflector surface into ridges softens what you see when you look up at the ceiling — the output leaves spread across the cone rather than as a direct, hard view of the chip.

How far the light actually reaches depends on three things you control: mounting height, room dimensions and the spacing you set between fittings. The same 75° beam covers a much smaller circle on a low ceiling than from a high one, which is why we publish the beam angle and the dimensions rather than a single coverage figure. Your lighting design sets the spacing; the beam then does its part.

In an open ceiling the cones from adjacent units overlap, which is what produces an even wash across the floor instead of a pattern of bright spots directly beneath each fitting. Run the spacing tighter and the overlap increases; open it up and the contrast between lit and unlit areas grows.

Housing Material and Thermal Design

  • Aluminium body: the housing is specified as aluminium, chosen for the way it moves heat away from the COB source rather than for looks alone.
  • Finned rear section: the body behind the trim is finned, and the fins increase the surface area available for heat to leave the fitting. Photographs of the unit show the ribbed black housing clearly between the spring clips.
  • Why the heat path matters: managing operating temperature is part of keeping LED performance reliable over time, as the series documentation notes — provided the fitting is installed and operated to our published specifications.
  • Built for long daily use: in offices, shops and hotel corridors these ceiling downlights are typically on for long stretches of the day, and the aluminium body is what allows the fitting to work through those hours with the COB sitting cool.
  • Structural confidence: an aluminium housing holds its shape through handling and installation, so the trim line stays true across a long ceiling run.
  • Give it room to breathe: as with any recessed fixture, keep the ceiling void around the body clear and avoid packing insulation directly against the housing, so heat can escape as intended.
  • Confirm the conditions: if your project has unusually high ambient temperatures or a well-sealed ceiling void, tell us at enquiry stage and we will confirm what the application requires.

Recessed Design and Ceiling Appearance

The fitting is made for recessed ceiling mounting, so it sits inside the ceiling plane and leaves only a slim white trim ring flush with the surface. From below, a run of them reads as a neat line of circles rather than a row of fixtures bolted on — which is why the format is the default in offices, hotel corridors and commercial interiors.

The build is two-tone, but it reads as one colour from the room. The front trim is white; the rear housing is finished in sand black. Once installed, the white ring sits against the ceiling and the darker body sits behind it, so the visible element stays neutral whatever the ceiling colour and whichever size of unit is above it.

Because the trim design carries across all four versions, a mixed layout still looks deliberate. A corridor running small units and a lobby running large ones share the same ring, so the eye does not register a change of product between zones.

Ceiling type and void depth are the two things to check before committing. The body needs space above the ceiling, and the published height for each size tells you how much. Where the void is shallow — under a slab, or alongside ductwork and cable trays — the smaller versions are usually the ones that fit.

If you are matching a ceiling that is already in service, send a photograph or a sample of the installed trim so the tone can be checked against production before the order is confirmed.

Sizes and Cut-Out Planning

Seven recessed downlights in various sizes shown front and back
  • Match the size to the space, not the other way round: the smallest version is for tight ceilings and small rooms, the largest for big open floors where the fitting has to read as one unit rather than a dot in the ceiling.
  • Cut-out first: every version has a published cut-out diameter and a published overall diameter, and the difference between the two is the trim that covers the hole. Check the pair together — an opening cut to the wrong figure leaves a gap the trim cannot hide.
  • Then check the void: the body needs depth above the ceiling, and the height figure for each size is what you compare against the slab, ductwork and cable runs in that area.
  • Replacing an existing fitting: measure the old opening and compare it with the published cut-out and overall diameters before ordering. If the existing hole is larger than the trim can cover, the ceiling needs making good first.
  • Keep one size per zone: recessed downlights are usually run in a consistent size across a zone so the trim line stays even, with a step up only where the room or the ceiling height genuinely changes.
  • Plan spacing together with size: a larger unit run at wider centres covers an open floor differently from a small one run tightly, so the two choices lead to different ceiling drawings and different order quantities.
  • Ask for the setting-out information: if a contractor needs the hole positions marked out, ask us for the dimensional information you need for the drawings package.

Recommended Applications

  • Residential interiors: living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, hallways and other indoor rooms where the ceiling light needs to be even and unobtrusive.
  • Commercial premises and showrooms: shops, boutiques and display areas, where this series forms the general layer and accent fittings highlight the merchandise.
  • Hotels and hospitality: guest rooms, reception areas, corridors and selected public interiors, with the smaller outputs in bathrooms and tight circulation spaces and the larger ones in lobbies.
  • Offices and shared workspaces: open-plan floors, meeting rooms and shared indoor areas, where an even ceiling wash matters more than a single dramatic source.
  • Commercial fit-outs and refurbishment: interior fit-out work, renovation projects and general ceiling lighting installations, including replacements where an existing ceiling is being re-lamped or re-specified.
  • Multi-site rollouts: chain operators and hotel groups that need the same ceiling specification repeated across several branches, so a replacement unit years later still matches what is already installed.
  • How this fits an enquiry: buyers sourcing from LED recessed lighting manufacturers often need one model to cover several of these environments at once, which is exactly what the four power steps are for — send the room list and we can point to the outputs that suit it.

Installation and Mounting

Installation diagram for the recessed ceiling downlight
  1. Check the drawing before anything is cut: confirm the cut-out diameter and the body height for the version you are installing, and compare both against the void, ductwork and cable trays in that part of the ceiling.
  2. Mark and cut the ceiling opening to the published cut-out diameter, keeping the edge clean and round so the trim ring can sit flat against the surface.
  3. Bring the supply cable to the opening with enough slack to make the connection comfortably outside the hole, then connect and secure it according to the wiring rules that apply on your site.
  4. Fold the two spring clips back against the body, lift the fitting into the opening and release the clips so they clamp onto the back of the ceiling board.
  5. Ease the trim into place so the ring sits flush with the ceiling — no gap on one side and no lip on the other.
  6. Power up the circuit and check the line of recessed downlights from below: even spacing and a level trim line are what make an installation look right.
  7. Where a zone mixes more than one size, keep each size together in its own run so the rhythm along the ceiling stays even and the eye reads one continuous line.

Ordering and Delivery

  • Order quantities: we quote per line and per project, so confirm the quantity that applies to the size, colour temperature and finish you need before the order is placed.
  • Lead time: production is scheduled against your confirmed order. Give us your site date or shipping window when you enquire and we will confirm what is achievable for your quantities.
  • Sampling: ask your sales contact about sample availability for this series and how a sample unit is supplied for approval.
  • Packing and loading: export packing is agreed per order. Each of the four sizes differs in overall diameter and body height, so ask for packing data for the sizes you are buying when you plan container loading.
  • Technical documents: tell us which drawings or specification sheets your project needs, and we will confirm what applies. Final technical details should be confirmed with us before the order is placed.
  • Mixed enquiries: if a schedule also includes other formats — a wholesale adjustable modern LED downlight for accent positions, or a surface-mounted fitting for a solid ceiling — put them in the same enquiry so the whole package is priced together.
  • Terms and shipping: payment terms and shipping arrangements are set out on your quotation; confirm them with your sales contact.
  • Why the paperwork matters: buyers comparing LED recessed lighting manufacturers usually want the same three answers — exact cut-outs, a firm schedule and a model that will still be available for the next phase. Send the project details and we will come back with the specification and the terms in writing.

Dimming and Driver Compatibility

Dimming is decided by the driver, not by the downlight alone. Every unit in this series runs from a separate LED driver, and whether a circuit can be dimmed — and how far down it will dim cleanly — depends on that driver together with the wall control or building control system it is connected to. The H-LB041 specification covers power, colour temperature, beam angle, luminous efficacy, housing and dimensions; a dimming method is not part of the standard specification. If dimming is in your lighting design, tell us the control system before the order is placed and we will confirm in writing what can be supplied.

What to send with the enquiry. Give us the dimmer or control make and model, the control type the project uses (mains leading- or trailing-edge, a 0–10V or DALI signal, or a smart system such as Tuya or Mijia), how many fittings sit on each dimmed circuit, and whether dimming is wanted per room, per zone or across a whole floor. With those details we can check the arrangement against this series and answer clearly instead of assuming.

Driver families we work with. Across our range we supply non-isolated drivers, triac-dimmable drivers and isolated drivers, alongside track adaptor drivers and smart drivers for Tuya- and Mijia-connected control. If your project already standardises on one of these, list the driver type and the model codes in your enquiry so the pairing can be confirmed for this series rather than carried over from another family.

Wiring and ceiling-void implications. A dimmed circuit needs a control conductor run to the fitting as well as the mains feed, which changes the cable and the containment in the ceiling. The driver also has to live somewhere — integrated with the body or remote in the void — so check the available depth against the published body heights of 45 mm to 105 mm and allow room for the driver and its connections. Settling this at drawing stage costs far less than reworking a closed ceiling.

Where dimming goes wrong on site. The common failures are a dimmer that does not match the driver, a non-dimmable driver installed on a circuit that is being dimmed, and a mixed run in which some fittings are dimmable and others are not. Each shows up as flicker, buzz, a narrow dimming range or visible stepping between levels. Keeping one dimming scheme per circuit, with matching drivers throughout the run, is what keeps an open floor looking consistent.

Replacement on an existing dimmer. If you are matching units that are already installed, do not work from the old model number alone. Send the details of the dimmer already in the ceiling and the driver type used in the existing fittings, and we will confirm how this series can be paired so the new units behave the same way as the ones beside them.

What the quotation will state. Any dimming requirement we agree is confirmed on the quotation, together with the driver and control basis it applies to. Until that confirmation is on paper, treat the dimming arrangement as unconfirmed and do not write it into a specification or a bill of quantities.

Testing & Compliance

Quality and compliance are handled in-house at Huiheng Lighting. Our factory has held ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management system certification, alongside BSCI, and our products carry CE, RoHS, ErP, CB, Reach, SAA and TUV approvals for the markets we serve. A CNAS-standard laboratory supports IES file testing and integrating sphere testing, so photometric and performance data can be checked before shipment. Declarations, test reports and compliance documents can be issued per project, with the applicable market scope confirmed together with your team before ordering. Tell us your destination market and required documents, and we will confirm what applies.

FAQ

What wattages are available in this series?

The series covers 10W, 18W, 28W and 40W, and each step matches a different ceiling task rather than a different product. The 10W version suits tight spaces and short runs, 18W covers bedrooms, standard meeting rooms and reception areas, 28W is for open areas and higher ceilings, and 40W is for large rooms and tall ceilings. Because all four use the same COB source and the same trim, you can mix them in one project without the ceiling looking like it has two different fittings in it.

What colour temperatures can I choose?

Three: 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white and 5000K cool white. Warm white suits guest rooms and residential interiors, neutral white is the usual office and shop-floor tone, and cool white gives showrooms and commercial interiors a crisper look. The catalogue lists all three — confirm whether the colour temperature you need is selectable on the ordered unit or supplied as a specific fixed configuration.

What beam angle does this LED recessed downlight produce?

75°, a wide distribution intended for general indoor illumination rather than accent work. How far the light reaches depends on your mounting height, the room dimensions and the spacing you set between fittings, so a lighting calculation should confirm the layout. The deep, ridged reflector inside the head is what spreads the output across that cone.

What is the housing made of?

Aluminium, specified for heat dissipation and structural durability, finished as a white front trim with a sand-black rear housing. As with any LED fitting, the thermal behaviour described for the series applies when the unit is installed and operated to our published specifications.

Is this series suitable for commercial lighting projects?

Yes. The range of wattages, colour temperatures and installation sizes makes it a candidate for showroom, hospitality, office and other indoor commercial projects. As LED recessed lighting manufacturers we supply this series into exactly those environments, and the four power steps let one specification cover several room types on the same site. Final suitability depends on the illuminance you need, your lighting layout, local regulations and the project specification.

Can I mix this series with adjustable or surface-mounted fittings in one ceiling?

Yes, and many projects do. This series is the fixed general-lighting layer; where a ceiling needs light aimed at a display or a wall, an adjustable family does that job, and a surface-mounted fitting handles a ceiling with no usable void. A wholesale adjustable modern LED downlight line and this fixed series can be quoted and shipped together from the same factory — send both requirements in one enquiry along with the room list.

How do I check that this fitting will suit my ceiling?

Take the version you have chosen and compare two published figures against the space: the cut-out diameter, which is the hole you need, and the body height, which is the depth the fitting needs above the ceiling. Check both against the void, ductwork and cable trays in that area before anything is cut. If you are replacing an existing fitting, measure the old opening as well — the trim has to be able to cover it.

Can this downlight be dimmed?

Dimming depends on the driver and the control system the fitting is paired with, and the series documentation does not state a dimming method for this model. Tell us the dimmer or control protocol already specified on your project and we will confirm what can be supported before you order.
